Long Stays

At certain moments in our lives it can be beneficial to take a break from our routines for a few months, which can help resolve essential questions about the direction of our lives and our existence on this planet. The setting provided by a monastery is ideal for this purpose; it provides distance from our normal habits and routines while offering meaningful social interactions within a community. 

In daily life, practitioners can easily abandon themselves to the rhythm of the zen monastery. This allows them to concentrate fully on each of their actions and re-learn the joy in the simple things in life. Within the community, practitioners also re-learn what it means harmonize with others in spite of our many different strengths and limitations. 

Each month, several periods of more intensive retreats - sesshin - are scheduled (included in the monthly fee). Participation in these retreats is mandatory. The rest of the time, the days of the monastery follow the following schedule:

A Typical "Daily Life" Day

6:00 a.m Shinrei  - Wake up bell
6:30 a.m  Zazen - sitting meditation - 1 or 2 periods
8:00 a.m  Choka - ceremony for the good all beings
8:30 a.m  Genmai - ritual breakfast in silence + Café, thé, tartines
9:30 - 12:00 a.m Samu - community activity (garden, kitchen, cleaning...)
12:30 - 1:00 p.m Meal in silence
1.00 - 2.45 p.m Break - personnal studies
2:45 - 5:00 p.m Samu - community activity (garden, kitchen, cleaning...)
5:00 p.m  Break - personnal studies
6:45 p.m  Zazen - sitting meditation - 1 or 2 periods
8:15 p.m Evening meal in silence
9:30 p.m Kaichin - bedtime

Prices - except special programs

One month: 423 € / 311 € 

This price includes teaching, accommodation, food and sesshins. It does not include other special programs (theme courses).

Membership of the association: 15 euros per year  - necessary to be able to take part in the activities.

6:30 - 8:15 a.m Zazen - Zen meditation - then morning ceremony.
8:15 - 9:00 a.m Gen-mai - silent meal + coffee, tea, toast
9:30 - 10:30 a.m Samu - community activity (garden, kitchen, cleaning...)
11:00 - 12:30 a.m Zazen & Teisho - teaching by master Wang-Genh
12:30 - 1:15 p.m Oryokis meal - silent ritual + coffee, tea
2:45 - 5:00 p.m Samou - service for the community 
5:30 - 6:45 p.m Zazen and mondo - questions-answers with the Master
6:45 - 7:15 p.m Dîner
8:30 - 9:45 p.m Zazen - zen meditation
