Historic day: First zazen in the new Ryumonji Dojo

Kusen (teaching) of Master Olivier Reigen Wang-Genh during the first zazen in the new Ryumonji Dojo on Friday 2 September 2022:

"This morning, we do zazen for the first time in this new Ryumonji Dojo.

I remember that almost 45 years ago Master Deshimaru said during the first zazen in the big dojo at La Gendronnière: "This is a historic day!

At the time, I was young and I didn't really understand what "historic" meant. But since then, several tens of thousands of people have done zazen in this large dojo and their lives have been profoundly changed. Today I know that if we do zazen in this new Ryumonji dojo, it is part of this history and perpetuates it.

Sensei also said: "It's a very cold dojo, it lacks windows, doors ... It is not comfortable! But a real sesshin, the real Gyoji is to control one's life, here it's not a holiday club but a place to practice the Buddha way!"

Like this morning in this dojo exposed to the four winds, no windows, no doors, no limits, no inside or outside... just a heart wide open and totally available."
